Our “house” electrician has attached the AC power receptacles permanently to the underside of the roof rafters and the installation is now complete. He also installed the extra chain stops to limit the upward travel of the window to a safe level.

         I have used the portal lift system several times already, and it works perfectly.  The speed of the chain lift motors @16fpm seems to be just right, as the portal opens and closes within about 15 seconds.  I do not know why we did not think of this solution before!  Maybe someday we can do the 4 main lighting portals over the stage the same way, as they are really heavy to lift.  Our new moving lights have reduced the need to open these portals as much, but they still have to be opened when gobos are used or when the moving lights misbehave (as they often do)!
